A very important announcement:
Halls of Hegra has arrived.
This might be the only true solo game in my collection. There is no two-handed mode, no solo-varient, it is just a one-player game.
I will be playing as the Norwegian army holed up in Hegra fortress attempting to resist the Nazi invasion as much as possible.
Lucky for me I already had a bunch of card sleeves laying around so I’ve not had to fork out extra, and my game is ready to put on the table.
One annoying thing about this game is that the box is just too small. I don’t know how much has been saved in packaging by keeping everything as snug as possible, but it is not worth it. Give me that extra centimetre. Maybe I am spoiled by Arkham Horror and The Lord of the Rings LCGs by having a small deck of cards in an absolutely enormous box.
Halls of Hegra’s box means I can’t just put a Dragon Shield box of cards in there, as the box isn’t tall enough, and I have to properly squash the playing board in there. It reminds me of myself trying to fit into my trousers that I’ve owned for a few years. I probably won’t throw the box away in disgust and vow to eat fewer calories, however.
Looking forward to giving this game a go in the near future. I expect I’ll need to rewatch Ricky Royal’s playthrough of it first.
Who knows, maybe I’ll even get round to playing it myself, though I have also said the same about Arkham Horror, Lord of the Rings, Marvel Champions, Heat, Spirit Island, Mage Knight, and Star Trek: Frontiers.
This time for sure.
